Very close to the Lodge is the famous Red House Carriage Museum where you can see the carriages and horses used in Pride & Prejudice and other popular films.
The Lodge is in the heart of Darley Dale and has many cycle and walking routes nearby. The Peak Rail is only 400 yards walk from the property and well worth a visit. Peak Rail run regular Steam and Diesel hauled heritage passenger trains between Matlock and Rowsley (stopping at Darley Dale), which is fun for all ages.
In nearby Matlock popular attractions such as The heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom will entertain young families. Just outside Matlock is the interesting Crich tramway museum full of local tram history. There are two supermarkets in Matlock, with good local butchers and greengrocers nearby. Major shopping is available in Chesterfield (10 miles away) and Sheffield and Derby are about an hour's drive away.
